Swedish Mora Tall Clock in the Biedermeier Style
This Swedish Mora Tall Clock in the Biedermeier Style is in Excellent Condition, c. 1830. Crafted in birch wood with ebonized accents in keeping with the Biedermeier style. Mora Clocks are clocks made in the Mora Municipality in Dalarna County in Sweden. Dalarna is famous in Swedish horological circles for its mass-produced long-case clocks. They were first produced in the last years of the 18th century as a response to the need for farmers to generate some income in the long, dark winter months in an agriculturally poor region. They were produced throughout the 19th century in a collective way and were equipped with 8-day movements which struck the hours on two bells mounted on top of the engine. Measuring 8 5/8”D x 23”W x 89 1/2”H, please view and zoom all pictures to enjoy, serious inquiries are welcome! Item ID: H27645925 Shipping and insurance are determined after checkout.
