Fine Austrian 18th Century Empire Clock
This Very Fine Austrian Hand-made Clock c1770-1790, in the tradition called Village Clockmaking. The Clockmaker would employ residents in the village to make parts for the clock, a clock of this caliber would take approximately one year to make as it was very intricate and time consuming. The Movement "Grande Sonnerie, playing the quarter and then the hour in the time of no electricity so that one could know the time without having to go thru the dark. The movement is very complex and does have repair dates in the 1800's noted as was done. The movement has been full restored and cleaned, upon arrival it will require re-calibration by a very experienced, the gears have all been numbered to aide in calibration and photos of the movements are to be sent with the clock. Featuring Bronze and Ormolu Mounts with Parquetry on the Base with Looking Glass Back. Measuring 24" tall x 15.5" wide x 6" deep, please view all pictures to enjoy, serious inquiries are welcome!
