This Delightful Sculpture “Children with Birdcage", in the manner of Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, is in Excellent Overall Condition, c. late 19th Century. Modelled with two young children capturing a bird from its nest, after a work by the Rococo sculptor Jean-Baptiste Pigalle (1714-1785) titled “Child with Birdcage” dated after 1750. The sculpture was very well-received at the Paris Salon of 1750, after which Pigalle agreed to allow the sculpture to be adapted for production in Sèvres biscuit. T ...click for details
