This Bird’s Eye Maple Chest, America, is in Excellent Overall Condition, c. late 19th century. Solid bird’s eye maple stamped “Gorham Mfg. Co.” and on the bottom of the drawer the date March 23, 1889 is hand written. With brass corners and appointments, the plaque on top engraved with the initial “P”. Top lifts to reveal the interior lined in pale yellow silk. The drawer beneath is also lined in the same silk. Was likely originally a silver chest but would also make a lovely jewelry box.
